Strategy and Policy

More recently, the various Groundwork regions have been working towards creating their own unique arts strategies, with the 5 Trusts in the East Midlands launching their strategy in early 2004. Several other Groundwork regions have secured or are in the process of securing funding for this process and will launch their own strategies in due course.

Groundwork Trusts are employing a variety of methods to develop their strategies – some have employed consultants to ’mentor’ them through the process – others are working together to develop strategies in-house. As each regional strategy develops, a great deal of useful policy discussion is going on, research undertaken and useful knowledge amassed. It is really important that this information is shared. To this end, an Arts section is being developed on the intranet, so that staff can consult with each other and access vital support and arts sector knowledge. If this is used in the way that is intended, Groundwork will become a learning organisation – with each regional strategy benefiting from the others in a ‘joined up’ way.

Check Groundwork's Arts Policy for more information.
